Detroit, Mich. September 14, 2020 — Honigman LLP is pleased to announce its partnership with Proxie Detroit, an innovative resource geared towards helping African-American women entrepreneurs grow their businesses. Honigman and Proxie will work together to help black women owned businesses navigate and overcome various legal issues.
“Honigman’s involvement is a dream come true in many ways, not only for me but for several businesses who fear dealing with a lawyer,” said Proxie CEO Autumn Kyles. “The goal is to debunk some common myths, while empowering founders to get the guidance they need to ensure success in all aspects of their business.”
Proxie’s Launch Course is one of the many opportunities where business owners can hear from Honigman’s Emerging Companies Group, dedicated to helping startup companies in the community gain the legal insight needed to thrive as a new business. The one-of-a-kind 25-day business plan and strategy course for new and emerging brands will offer two webinars led by Honigman attorneys, discussing best practices for contracts and confidentiality agreements, post-course legal workshops, and much more.
“We value inclusion and equitable investment,” said Donald Kunz, Chair of Honigman’s corporate department. “We believe in the work of Proxie and the number of small businesses that are taking advantage of starting their own endeavor during the pandemic.”
Honigman’s commitment to the Detroit community and small businesses in the region is a key reason for the partnership with Proxie Detroit. As Honigman continues to expand its Emerging Companies Group and Proxie continues to help bridge the gap of information and funding to Black women-owned businesses, both organizations look forward to the future of this partnership and the benefits it will have for local entrepreneurs.
